The Llama Farmers are
Bernie Simpson (vocals/guitar)
Jenni Simpson (Bass/vocals)
William Briggs (guitar)
Brooke Rogers (drums)
"Llama Farmers met up a year and a half ago when guitarist William Briggs and drummer Brooke Rogers decided to form a band at their school in the leafy south London suburb of Greenwich.
"After a while our bassist went nutty and left." explains William. "Then we sacked our old singer because he was rubbish. We also knew that Jenni (Bernie's younger sister) played bass. She was a bit scared to start with, because she didn't know any of us, so she brought Bernie along as well..."
With Bernie installed as singer, the as-yet unnamed band started playing local gigs and even their school. Which was where they decided upon their curious name.
"We had a friend at school who was Chilean," explains Brooke. "His mum used to make him goat sandwich packed lunches and things like that, so when we played our first gig at school we asked to be called the Llama Farmers because it was this kid's nickname"
Jim Wirth - NME It has been a busy, and exciting year for the Llama Farmers : two singles on Fierce Panda; festival appearances at Glastonbury, T in the Park, and Reading; dates supporting the Foo Fighters and Green Day; plus a number of their own headline shows.
The band have already had great single reviews, live reviews, and features in NME, Melody Maker, and Kerrang!; and only recently featured in NME’s Student Guide as one of the top ten bands to watch for the future, as well as headline the Underworld as part of the Camden Mix’ “Camdemonium”.
Both singles, “Paper Eyes” and “Always Echoes”, received extensive airplay on XFM and Radio 1’s Evening Session, and resulted in the band recording sessions for both of these, plus GLR.
Bernie and Jenni also found time to conclude their academic studies in south-east London.
The Llama Farmers, now signed to Beggars Banquet, have just been in the studio recording their third single.
